A Different Way to See Yourself

See Yourself as a TapestryHere’s a different way to see yourself. Think of yourself as a tapestry of interwoven strands. Look closely. You’ll see not every strand is beautiful. Yes, some are dazzling. Others however are muted, even homely. Every part of you, every aspect of you, is an individual thread woven to make you the unique person you are. Rather than focus on individual threads (some of which you may hate), enjoy those threads running the gambit of dazzling to downright ugly. While you may find you’re trying to get your threads to match those of others, embrace the uniqueness your threads create for you. Look at the whole tapestry. Embrace the whole picture. The whole you. Your unique self. Celebrate it.

Tana, you amaze me with the way you see things! I love your idea here. I love the way your mind works!

Thank you Sheila. At times it’s too easy to focus on one thing about yourself, and when you do, it’s usually a something you don’t like. That’s when, if you can, it really helps to step back and look at the larger picture. The analogy of the tapestry threads is another tool, another point of view actually, to do just that. As always, it’s good to hear from you. *smiles*
