Versatile Blogger Award

Versatile Blogger AwardA stupendously, delightful surprise is opening your email to read:

“I love your blog & also follow you on Twitter. I’ve nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award.”

Seems something more appropriate than thank you is in order. However, thank you is what I have, and it is given freely and whole-heartedly to Michelle Abbott. (Along with a healthy dose of Clapping & Cheering, Foot Stomping and Woo-Hooing!)

    The rules:

    I. Display the Award Certificate on your blog. (See doodle above.)

II. Announce your win with a post and thank the blogger who nominated you. (In case you missed it above Michelle, thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU! )

III. Post seven interesting things about yourself. Hmmm. “Interesting” is debatable. (I’d say these are tidbits.)

~~1. As a child I loved eating liverwurst and honey sandwiches.

~~2. My favorite namesake story: Lake Tana in Ethiopia feeds into the Nile. It was thought to be the Fountain of Youth.

~~3. I once won tickets to a weekend Jazz Festival by calling into a radio station.

~~4. When I was 12, a man offered to buy me for two goats and one camel (or was it two camels and one goat?)

~~5. My daughter claims I am a closet New Ager.

~~6. As a child I wanted to be a member of the Addams Family (as portrayed on television).

~~7. From the moment I watched Gene Tierney and Rex Harrison in The Ghost and Mrs. Muir at age 14, until I gave birth, I had thought my first daughter’s name would be Lucia (the Ghost having decided Mrs. Muir’s name should be Lucia rather than Lucille). I erred.

Nominated BlogsIV. Present 15 deserving bloggers with the award.  (Listed in alphabetical order)

Love your versatile blogger doodle, it out a huge smile on my face this morning.

    Michelle Abbott - October 16, 2013 - 1:03 am

    I meant ‘put’ not out!

    Patti Hall - October 16, 2013 - 1:17 am

Tana, thank you so much for the award. I already have it posted on my blog. I usually get creative with the rules and wanted to make sure you were open to that? Yours is my favorite, BTW. Let’s not tell the others and make them feel bad:>)
I truly love them all, but I have a special place for you after you created and tweeted Ricky and said those kind words.
So, are you okay with me being creative with the rules?…it will be fun, I promise:>)
    Patti

    kath unsworth - October 16, 2013 - 1:44 am

    Congrats on your award
Thank you Tana for thinking of me I have been awarded this lovely award before and no longer participate in the fun and games, sorry. But rest assured I love your space and am honoured you chose me thank you. No hard feelings I hope.

    Tracy L - October 16, 2013 - 3:55 am

Congrats Tana! So excited for you. :) Always love your posts and doodles.

    Josanne - October 16, 2013 - 5:24 am

    Congratulations.
    Well deserved x

    IR - October 16, 2013 - 9:08 am

    Hahahaha @ #4 and #5.

    Tana Bevan - October 16, 2013 - 10:47 am

Michelle — Glad the post “put” a smile on your face this morning. Feels good to return in kind since your nomination of me last week put a big ol’ Cheshire Cat grin on mine. Have a fun day!

    Tana Bevan - October 16, 2013 - 10:54 am

Patti — In my mind the nomination is a gift. When I give a gift, I give it freely and unconditionally. What the recipient does with it is his/her choice. I’ve nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award. How you respond to the nomination is entirely up to you. *smiles as she looks forward to your response and winks knowingly as “mum’s the word” about your opinion of her blog*

As for Ricky Raccoon, I gather he was an important part of your life/member of your household. I’m glad my doodle brings you joy now that he’s gone.

    Tana Bevan - October 16, 2013 - 10:57 am

Kath–There are no hard feelings. I’m neither insulted, hurt, nor anything of the sort. I was pleased to be nominated & wanted to keep the “good feeling” moving forward. Even if you choose not to accept “my” nomination, the ultimate purpose … the spread of Good Cheer has been accomplished. A total win-win! Yay! A definite Good Thing & Little Happy this Thursday morning. Woo-hoo!

    Tana Bevan - October 16, 2013 - 10:59 am

Thank you Tracy. Appreciate your support, encouragement, and congratulations. Have yourself a Terrific Thursday.

Correction: (Wishful thinking on my part. Here’s wishing you a Wonderful Wednesday. *smiles*)

    Tana Bevan - October 16, 2013 - 11:03 am

As for #5 Yep. Being oblivious to jesting, I got really scared when the chaperone started dinkering with the old guy about my price!

As for #4 … No comment. *smiles*

    Star H. - October 16, 2013 - 11:22 am

A smile a day ~ that’s what I say (an apple a day is good, too).

Congratulations on the award. Well deserved. Love the way you’ve displayed it.

    Interesting #1 ~ liverwurst & honey, huh?!?

    Patti Hall - October 16, 2013 - 11:27 am

    Tana,
Yes, he was. He grew up with the seven of us kids. He was retired to the Alaska Children’s Zoo and had a long happy life there:>)
I’m going to have fun the award, you just watch! Lots of smiles and good wishes for your Thursday!
    Patti

    Tana Bevan - October 16, 2013 - 12:07 pm

    Hi Star —
Well, IMHO it’s a Doodle A Day which keeps the blahs away. (Spoken like a true Doodler. Hehe)
Thanks for the congrats & glad you like the award display. Twas the Inner Doodler at work. :-)
As for the liverwurst & honey … well, I was very young then. I might have even added mustard to the mix. I don’t recall. I also don’t recall the last time I ate liverwurst. Ah, the things we do when we’re young.
Wonderful to hear from you. Have a Wonderful Day!

    Kate Hall - October 16, 2013 - 1:02 pm

Thank you for the award!!! Now those are some interesting things about you, particularly #1, 4 and 6. #4 boggles my mind. #1 – eek! #6 – You wanted to hang out with Thing and Cousin It, didn’t you?

    Tana Bevan - October 16, 2013 - 1:44 pm

Thank you! *smiles demurely while doodles giggle & jump up & down in delight*

    Tana Bevan - October 16, 2013 - 1:52 pm

Kate — Re #1: In my defense I was much, much younger! Barely double digits (if even that). Also, upon reflection there may have also been mustard added to the mix. Eeeegads!

As for #6, I thought the whole family was cool. Morticia was the greatest of mothers (I LOVED her dress). To have a father who blew up toy trains — how cool was that? An uncle who could light up light bulbs, and a cousin like “It.” I also loved Thing. (As I’m typing this I have to wonder if my fascination with the show is still in my past. lol)

As for #4, it was a “little” (understatement!) unnerving when the group’s chaperone was negotiating with the guy as to my “worth.” As a 12-year-old, I was pretty freaked out. Looking back, it makes for a humorous tidbit item.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. *smiles*

    Sheila Bergquist - October 16, 2013 - 11:18 pm

Tana, thank you so much for the nomination. I have never heard of this before and am thrilled that you like my blog enough to give me this honor! I love your blog too!

    Tana Bevan - October 17, 2013 - 10:09 am

Sheila — There’s a lot out there in cyberspace … good, bad & everything in-between. The Versatile Blogger Award comes under the heading of “fun” and “spreading good cheer.” So glad it did. Enjoy!

    Shelley - October 22, 2013 - 6:48 pm

Congratulations, Tana! An award well-deserved. Many thanks for introducing me to a whole host of new bloggers to check out and admire. I look forward to a wealth of good reading. Cheers to you!

    Tana Bevan - October 22, 2013 - 8:36 pm

Appreciate the kudos Shelley. Enjoy checking out all the new-to-you blogs. Who knows, maybe there’s a new “best friend” in the bunch. Or even a new “friend.” :-)
